Biography

Dr. Rafael Blanco Davila, consultant Anaesthetist obtained his Medical degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain in 1992. He then completed house officer jobs in Liverpool. His passion for regional anaesthesia developed at Morriston Hospital, Swansea in the Burns and Plastic Unit. In 1998 He moved into Guy’ & St Thomas for higher training in Anaesthesia. His first consultant job was at University Hospital Lewisham and he is now a consultant at Complejo Hospitalario Universitario A Coruna, Spain. Dr. Rafa was the founder and initial chairman of the London Society of Regional Anaesthesia. He designed an online anaesthetic logbook, combining mathematical models (learning curves) together with a complete and interactive logbook which is available with lsora membership. He is also an advisor for NICE into regional anaesthesia guided regional blocks. He has written several articles for regional anaesthesia, books plus some papers in the usual medical magazines. He teaches at national and international level and is a internationally renowned name in ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia.
