Kevin Charles Kemp

Biography

Kevin Kemp is a researcher within the School of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Bristol, UK. He obtained his first degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of the West of England in 2003, where he went on to receive a PhD in 2007. Prior to his PhD studies Dr Kemp received a distinction for his Masters degree in Transfusion and Transplantation Sciences at the University of Bristol. As a senior post-doctoral scientist at the Multiple Sclerosis and Stem Cell laboratories, University of Bristol, his research interests are now in the therapeutic use of stem cells for neurodegenerative disorders, an area in which he has published many scientific research papers. Dr Kemp has a major role in supervising post-graduate students and clinical research fellows. He has also set up a number of research collaborations through close liaison with researchers from the around the world.

Research Interest

He aims to explore new treatments for patients with degenerative ataxias and other neurodegenerative disorders. His research involves investigating the potential of mobilisation (drug induced or transplantation) of human bone marrow-derived stem cells and/or other stem cell populations to promote neuronal cell survival and regeneration.
