Ge received his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, where he investigated pathological and physiological mechanisms of Duchenn Muscular Dystrophy by identifying and characterizing disease targets, biomarkers and signaling pathways associated with the disease onset and progression using functional proteomic approaches. Prior to his Ph.D. studies, he had worked in Walther Oncology Center, Indiana University for four years, where he studied cytokine gene expression in human stem and progenitor cells and gene therapy. Following the completion of his Ph.D. study, he moved to Department of Proteomics at Invitrogen, where he worked as a lead scientist for breast cancer proteomic project focusing on identification of breast cancer biomarkers using Multiplexed Proteomics Technology Platform built within the research team, and a project leader for development of protein assays for the detection and quantification of protein biomarkers. In 2006, he took the position of Principal Investigator at US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). His laboratory is working in the emerging field of toxicoproteomics for the development of toxicoproteomics methodologies and applications of the methodologies developed to systematic and high-throughput analysis of toxicity pathways and toxic mechanisms of environmental chemicals, and identification of protein toxicity signatures/biomarkers for human health risk assessment. His research efforts and publications have led to invitations to serve as conference chair and keynote speaker, OMICS session chairs for SETAC, EUROTOX, AES and several other international conferences. He is currently serving as North America Regional Editor for Journal of Integrated OMICS, and Associate Editor for Environmental Health and Toxicology. Ge is a recipient of multiple US biotechnology patents and EPA Scientific and Technological Achievement Award (STAA). He is currently leading an EPA’s Innovative research project on “Predictive Proteomic Risk Assessment of Chemical Mixtures”
